Breed Standard

In a breed standard we find a summary of character traits and particular characteristics of the dog's appearance that qualify it as a certain breed. In this chapter you'll find the breed standard of the Irish Glen of Imaal Terrier. The Glen is a working dog and was mostly used for hunting underground. This can be seen in the dog's standard. In order to be able to function properly as a working dog, he had to have certain characteristics. By carefully selecting breeding stock, people have created a dog that is as functional as possible.
